You probably aren’t planning on passing away any time soon. But just as “life happens,” death or an incapacitating injury sometimes happens when we least expect it. Are you sure that your loved ones will receive your property or your life insurance as you see fit? Do you want your child to have the proceeds of that policy as cash in his pocket the minute he turns eighteen years old? If you are in a coma, do you want someone to “pull the plug” or do you want the doctors to do anything and everything to save your life? Without an estate plan, nobody knows your answer to this questions should an unfortunate event occur. There is no reason that every adult shouldn’t have at least a basic, affordable estate plan to allow your wishes to be known should the worst happen.
